The Countdown for Whisky Live Manila Begins

The drink they carry is the kind of man they are. As they say, real men drink whisky. However, it is not enough to just order the usual from your regular bar, or getting your fill from your local liquor store. Entering the world of whisky can be quite intimidating to the uninitiated. Good thing that Whisky Live, the biggest international whisky tasting and sampling event of the year has finally arrived in Manila.

On October 28 and 29, discerning whisky drinkers and the new breed of whisky aficionados gather together at the Grand Ballroom of Shangri-La Hotel at The Fort for Whisky Live Manila.

From London to Tokyo, Paris to New York and finally Manila, Whisky Live brings together producers from Spain, USA, Australia, Taiwan, Japan, Ireland and Scotland to offer Filipinos the opportunity to experience of sampling a wide array of whisky brands and spirits from well-known and boutique brands to confidential and rising stars of the whisky industry.

Guests’ journey begins with a Glencairn glass (pictured above) which they will receive as they enter the ballroom. The Glencairn glass is a special glass fashioned after the traditional nosing copitas used in whisky labs around Scotland. The glass is your ticket to nosing and sampling the featured spirits. Guests will receive a quarter-ounce of the whiskey of their choice followed by light snacks and water to cleanse their palette.

Guests who want to gain extensive knowledge on whisky may also attend any of the eight masterclasses that will be held during the two-day event. Two of these masterclasses will be conducted by two world-renowned whisky masters: Jim Murray, the author of Whisky Bible, is one of the world’s leading authorities in whisky; and Dominic Roskrow, author of the ‘World’s Best Whiskies’ and one of the UK’s top Whisky Experts.

In partnership with Grand Cru Wines and Spirits, Inc., Whisky Live Manila showcases over 121 brands and whisky distributors from around the world to showcase their rare, unique and hard to find whiskies, as well as some of the main stream brands. Brands participating are Jameson, Glenfiddich, Glenmorangie, Mars Whisky, Teeling Whisky, Evian, Bruichladdich, Monkey Shoulder, JFHillebrand, Dewar’s, Tanduay, Glengoyne, Kavalan, The Singleton, The Glenrothes, Don Papa Rum, Ungava, The Glenlivet, Johnnie Walker, The Glendronach Distillery, The Balvenie, Tomintoul, The Benriach, Bevtools, Tequila Corralejo, Jura, Chivas, Akashi, The Macallan, Highland Park, Yamazakura, and The Dalmore.
